Catawba County Parks Trail Challenge

Help celebrate 25 years of Catawba County Parks by completing our trail challenge! Complete the ten routes listed below by June 30, 2025 to receive a completion sticker and be entered into a grand prize drawing. Here’s how to participate:

• Sign up to participate in the challenge any time on or after July 1, 2024 at any of these three Catawba County Parks: Bakers Mountain, Mountain Creek or Riverbend. Receive a trail challenge card and an entry prize just for signing up!
• Complete the 10 featured routes listed below any time between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025. 
• You may hike the routes on your own, in any order, any time throughout the year. You are also welcome to participate in any of the group hikes listed below. There is no cost to participate in the group hikes. Participation in the group hikes is not required for participation in the challenge.
• After you complete a route, check it off on the trail card you received when you signed up.
• Return the trail card showing your completion of all 10 routes to Bakers Mountain, Mountain Creek or Riverbend by June 30, 2025 to receive your official completion sticker and be entered into our grand prize drawing. Winners will be contacted after June 30, 2025.

• Family Loop at Riverbend Park (2.0 miles) 
  Group Hike at Birthday Bash: July 6, 2024 at 9am
• Story Walk at Bakers Mountain Park (0.27 miles) 
  Group Walk at Birthday Bash: July 13, 2024 at 9am
• Dog Walk at St. Stephens Park (0.43 miles) 
  Group Walk at Birthday Bash: July 20, 2024 at 9am
• All-Access Route at Mountain Creek Park (2.2 miles) 
  Group Walk at Birthday Bash: July 27, 2024 at 9am
• Green Trail Loop at Riverbend Park (6.0 miles) 
  Group Hike: September 14, 2024 (rain date 9/21) at 9am
• Highlights Tour of Bakers Mountain Park (2.36 miles) 
  Group Hike: October 12, 2024 (rain date 10/19) at 9am
• Outer Perimeter Route at Mountain Creek Park (10.0 miles) 
  Group Hike: November 9, 2024 (rain date 11/16) at 9am
• Bakers Mountain Loop at Bakers Mountain Park (2.7 miles) 
  Group Hike: March 8, 2025 (rain date 3/15) at 9am
• Spring Wildflower Walk at Bakers Mountain Park (1.6 miles) 
  Group Hike: April 12, 2025 (rain date 4/19) at 9am
• Highlights Loop at Riverbend Park (6.0 miles) 
  Group Hike: May 10, 2025 (rain date 5/17) at 9am
